Introduction Letter

Dear Cooperating Teacher,

My name is Crystal Stinson, and I am a middle years Education student at the University of Regina. I am a BEAD (Bachelor of Education After Degree) student; my previous degree was in biology, and I worked as a biologist for a few years for an environmental and engineering consulting firm. I have taken time off work to stay home with my two children.  We live on an acreage near Craik, where we grow as much of our own food as we can with our garden, greenhouse, fruit orchard, honeybees, and chickens. My family and I lived off-grid for six years before changing to a grid-tied system two years ago.  This experience has taught me a lot about conserving energy and being self-reliant.  In my spare time, I enjoy being outside and learning from nature.

I am excited to get into the classroom to observe, learn, and begin teaching.  While my background is in science, I am looking forward to teaching in all subject areas.  I hope to learn more about my strengths and weaknesses in the classroom as a pre-intern, to improve my weaker skills and develop my strengths. I have good organizational skills and like to be well prepared.  I am thoughtful and patient, which will serve me well with the middle years age group.

During my pre-internship at your school, I hope to gain a better understanding of unit and lesson planning, management in the classroom, finding and developing resources, learning more about what to teach students on alternate plans, managing time, and assessment. Thank you for allowing me to come into your classroom and guide my learning in this way. If you would like to get in touch with me, my number is (306) 734-7737 or by email at delzen_1@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Crystal Stinson
